Get this pump!

This was on my christmas list, my daughter got it for me. MUST HAVE!!! Fits perfectly into the original place if you remove the covers, no other mods needed. A clip of about an inch and the original exhaust hose fits as well. ONLY downside, by removing the covers, you lose the control over your flow rate. I solved this by putting the original water director back in place (i know many of us took that off to increase flow). This combined with the in tank media tower....it's a no-brainer....if you want a happy reef.

Installed on my Fluval Spec V. I removed the two covers and then had to shave the little lip off the impeller cover, not a big deal. To be honest it’s a little too powerful for my set up but it’s a great pump regardless. I’ll probably use it for pumping water into my other tanks during water changes instead of lifting a 5g bucket. Who knows, I may have use for it in the future.

Cobalt pump for Evo 5

POWERFUL I was worried that removing the plastic panels would cause the noise levels to be higher than the stock. Wrong! This pump is super silent! The only problem I have now is that my snails are sent flying with they try to climb over the output of the spout!

This pump ROCKS!!!!

I have a Fluval Evo 5 5-gallon reef tank. The Fluval pump which came with the tank is only rated at 80 gph, which I now know is just marginal. My tank was sad, and had lots of dead spots. When I put in the Cobalt pump, it started kicking butt with at least twice the flow, and fit in easily with the mods suggested on the InTank site. All of my corals are all puffy and happy now, no dead zones, and way fewer algae issues. Plus...it doesn't seem to clog (I vacuum out the pump chamber a little bit every water change). I LOVE this pump!!!
